Charleston performers Gracie & Lacy and their Legends Band transported veterans and families back in time to the glory years of the USS Yorktown in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of it's commissioning. Those who served on the ship gathered for a weekend of festivities culminating in the nostalgic USO-style show in Hangar Bay 3 following dinner. From the swingin' hits of the 1940s with Andrews Sisters flair, to the Sinatra-style crooner ballads of the 1950s and 1960s, the show spanned music and history from WW2, Vietnam, and the Korean war. The grand finale "Oh When the Saints" was performed in the style of Louis Armstrong, complete with the Fats Domino tradition of the horn players marching off stage and playing in the crowd, culminating in a standing ovation.
The event hosted aboard the USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC was sponsored by the USS Yorktown Association.
